Puzzle games that help you switch off
Some puzzle games exist to stress you out with timers and combos. The ones I love do the opposite — they slow your brain down in a good way.
Gridlock Gardens is my current favorite for this. No clock, no pressure, just sliding tiles to grow a little garden. You can sit on a tricky board for ages and nobody hurries you along.
What makes a relaxing puzzle work is a difficulty curve that sneaks up on you. Early boards feel easy, then subtle new rules appear, and suddenly you're planning three moves ahead without realizing you got hooked.
My recommendation: find one quiet puzzle game and keep it for the end of the day. Ten minutes of gentle problem-solving beats doomscrolling every time.
